Points To Ponder
The route will take you across the Lincolnshire Wolds, north across the Humber and on to the southern edge of the North York Moors.
As planned, the route starts from the petrol station, where the A1 – A46 – A17 meet, near Newark. The Friendly Farmer Cafe is now closed, but the garage has coffee, and there is a lot of parking available.
There is so much to describe on this route; it is best just to go and ride it. There is the stunning B1225 Caistor High Road. The highly popular B1248 route around Beverly, Wetwang and Malton to meet the A170 at Pickering, where there are public toilets just off to the right of the roundabout.
Then there is the run from Sproxton on the B1257 & B1363. The views are stunning. And there is still more to enjoy.
After navigating the docks at Goole, there is the A161 (Kings Causeway). The A156 and A1133 run south back to the starting point.
However, a word of caution … These are popular motorcycling roads, and the local constabulary can often be found in the villages with their speed enforcement vans.
Nonetheless, the route is one for the bucket list.
