The idea is a simple one. Gather as many female bikers as possible together in one spot and see if you can beat the current world record, which stands at One Thousand One Hundred and Thirty-Two (1,132) female bikers gather together at the same time.
And having had that thought, perhaps you might then consider the numerous reasons not to do it. Thankfully none of these reasons deterred Nimi Patel nor Sherrie Woolf.
Wrong
The motorcycling industry did not take their first attempt in 2015 very seriously. Two random ladies putting on an event to beat a record held by the Australians didn’t seem to have much going for it. The Aussies had gathered 200 and something female bikers together, so the stakes didn’t seem too high.
I can only imagine how red some of the faces in the PR Departments were on that Monday morning when at their first attempt, Sherrie and Nimi trebled the record with 618 female bikers taking part.
Every Bigger
The Aussies did not take this laying down and reclaimed the title with 1,002 female bikers at a single meet.
Come 2017, Sheri and Nimi – now on Facebook as MotoAdvisor – replied to the Aussies challenge with a Female Biker Meet at Lynn’s Raven Cafe in Shropshire and 1,132 ladies in attendance.
More Female Bikers
For MotoAdvisor’s 2022 attempt at breaking their own record, Triumph kindly offered the Triumph Factory at Hinkley in Leicestershire as the location to meet at.
If you have ever been to the factory, you will know it is an impressive building that also houses the Triumph Motorcycle Museum. Put simply; it isn’t small!.
Yet looking across the car park, treble stacked with motorcycles, there may have been a few nervous people wondering how many female bikers were going to arrive.
In comparison, we gentlemen were in the much smaller overflow car park but still managed a respectable supporting attendance.
New Record
As I write this, the exact total is yet to be announced, and I’m sure it will need to be ratified before becoming an official World Record. Nonetheless, over 1,250 female bikers were in attendance when I left, and more were still arriving.
Update: Unofficially, the figure is 1,549 – Sorry Australia.
