It is always welcoming to receive an email, especially when it is from Sena in Germany.
I’ve been a fan of Sena Intercoms since I bought my first Sena SMH5 several years ago. It is still going strong, and when combined with the Sena +Mesh, I get all the benefits of Sena’s Mesh Technology and a Bluetooth intercom to listen to nagging Nadia (my GPS) tell me I’m lost again.
After the usual pleasantries, the email went on to say two things. Firstly, Sena will be unveiling enhancements to their devices at EICMA in November ’21, and secondly that I had understated the capabilities of a couple of Sena Intercoms in a recent article [Sena Bluetooth Three Way]
Naturally, Sena was very polite in pointing this out, yet the fact remains that I cocked up, and I need to correct myself. In my defence – I’m an idiot.
EICMA
The Esposizione Internazionale Ciclo Motociclo – I’ve no idea where they get the A on the end from – is perhaps the most significant motorcycle show in Europe and is usually the chosen venue for manufacturers to unveil their new models and latest developments.
As EICMA is in Milan in late November, I was keen to visit. Having delivered my passionate request for a trip to Italy, I was offered Motorcycle Live at the NEC in December as an alternative.
And so, I’ll have to wait for the press releases to discover what the Sena Engineers have been up to.
Sena Bluetooth Intercom Corrections
If ever there was a situation where ARTM – Always Read The Manual – would have been the right thing to do, this was it.
Having now read the manuals, and cut myself a large slice of humble pie, here are the corrections. On the bright side, the Sena Intercoms all do more than I said they could.
Sena SMH5
The perfect base intercom unit. There isn’t a Bluetooth group intercom option, but as I mentioned earlier, get yourself a Sena +Mesh to go with your SHM5 and delight in the full Sena mesh intercom experience. As valuable as Bluetooth group intercoms are, Sena Mesh is better.
Sena 10C Evo
The 10C Evo is the Sena intercom with an excellent built-in 4K camera. If you are into vlogging, it is the perfect setup as the intercom audio is recorded as part of the video stream.
Bluetooth group intercom capacity: 4 and not 3 as I’d suggested – it is 3 plus yourself.
Sena 20S Evo
Along with Bluetooth 4.1 and high-quality speakers, the Sena 20s EVO is perhaps the definition of what can be achieved with a Bluetooth intercom – well, as of today anyway. Sena may move the goalposts further out with their announcements at EICMA.

And having corrected myself, I best start making plans for Motorcycle Live. After all, what could possibly go wrong?
